TOPIC: Call to Order and Welcome

Discussion: Lenora Williams-Omenka opened meeting at 12:21 pm

Action/Outcomes: Called the meeting to order and welcomed Zoom Piedmont-Montclair members

Discussion: Pledge of Allegiance at 12:23

Action/Outcomes: Pledge led by Saralinda Jackson

 

TOPIC: Word of Inspiration or uplift to begin our meeting

Action/Outcomes: Lenora Williams-Omenka gave us words of wisdom

Discussion: Historical ‘Facts’ regarding this day in time

TOPIC: Rotary Fellowship

Discussion: Club Membership Updates 

Action/Outcomes: 2 Members will be out of town in the following months: Tom Gee will be in Hawaii for 2-3 months (starting mid-August) and Joseph Camara Jr will be out of town the month of September.  A special Get Well Soon to our member Herb Houston.

TOPIC: Rotary International Wheelchair Project 

Discussion: All member participation

Action/Outcomes: Spectacular show of gift giving and donations by our club members of 16 wheelchairs with matching funds totaling $1,200 (one thousand two hundred dollars) for individuals who have limited to no mobility without the gift of a wheelchair in the country of Mexico. More donations are still sought from our club members and friends. The mission of the Rotary International Foundation is to bring mobility, freedom, dignity and hope all over the world, one wheelchair at a time.

TOPIC: Volunteer Work with the Church - meals for the disadvantaged and working with our youth partners

Discussion: Jeff Trowbridge

Action/Outcomes: Last Friday member Jeff Trowbridge continued our ongoing volunteer work with College Avenue Presbytarian church’s meal program for the disadvantaged.

TOPIC: Rotarian of the Month 2021 Calendar

Action/Outcomes: Dr. Bill Riley is the September 2021 Rotarian of the month

TOPIC: Piedmont-Montclair Club Rotary 2021-22 Committee Chairs and Members

Action/Outcomes: 2021-22 Committee Chairs and Members were selected and confirmed.  The President agreed to contact each member to let them know their committee assignments, review their committee roles, and let them know their District contacts.

​

TOPIC: Community Projects

Action/Outcomes: Club basket stuffing party TBD = Bring all collected materials to our club meeting on August 27, 2021 or make arrangements to drop off items at one of our club member’s homes.   • ITEMS NEEDED:

Upcoming volunteer project for Emancipated Youth
Baskets can be male or female-themed and contain some combination of:

  • Masks

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Clorox wipes

  • Bath towels

  • Toothbrush

  • Toothpaste

  • Deodorant

  • Shampoo

  • Conditioner

  • Body wash

  • Razors

  • Shaving cream

  • Optional additions: socks, loofah, back-up phone battery or charger, something fun!

  • A plastic laundry basket is perfect to hold your gifts.

(Tips: If you don’t have these in your home. You can get them down in the dollar store!)
